Abstract

This study examines the diversity of mollusks in Tarahan Island, Banten Bay, which has coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs, macro algae, and debris. Samples were taken from three stations using purposive sampling method. Data analysis included ANOSIM to test for differences in community structure across habitats and nMDS to visualize species distribution patterns. The findings showed that coral reef ecosystems had the highest species diversity, while rubble had the lowest variation. Species such as Turbo argyrostomus contributed significantly to community variation between habitats. The R value obtained from ANOSIM showed that the differences between habitats were not statistically significant, suggesting that environmental factors such as food availability and water quality have more influence on mollusc distribution than habitat substrate type. This study confirms that Tarahan Island is a significant area for representing mollusc diversity, especially in recognizing the distribution and variation of species in its coastal habitats..
